Description
From the last week of September through the mid-November each year, the city of Chicago raises all the bridges on the Chicago River allowing the sailboats to pass on their way to dry dock for the winter. This photograph was taken from Lake Shore Drive looking back towards the Wrigley Tower. Behind me there are close to twenty sailboats passing under the bridge going up the river; the first few boats are in view.
If you look closely, you'll see how the early morning sunlight goes from left to right passing by the tree on the left and falling on the solitary boat on the right.
All proceeds will be donated to Chicago's Cornerstone Community Outreach in honor of photographer Richard Cleis, 1965-2021.
