I've been a photographer for the past 40 years. I worked professionally as a photographer/graphic artist for 25 years. I am now retired but continue working in photography every day. I work with Canon digital cameras and Mac computers.
I create many of my photographic images in the Neo-expressionist style. Neo-expressionists portray recognizable objects, such as the human body (although sometimes in an abstract manner), in a rough and violently emotional way using vivid colours and color harmonies.
I am inspired by the German Expressionist painters--Emil Nolde, Max Beckmann, George Grosz, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and other expressionist artists such as James Ensor and Edvard Munch.
I also work in the straight photography mode. My work highlights candid street images of people...no posing, no chatting. Most of the time the folks do not know I've taken their image.
Some few of my images are of street people down on their luck. My aim is humanitarian in nature following in the steps of my mental mentors Lewis Hine and Jacob Riis.
As a street photographer, I am unconventional since I shoot with a telephoto zoom lens, and I am in my car as I drive thru the city looking for my images of people. I am old and somewhat infirm so I can no longer walk long distances or defend myself from folks who may object to my capturing their images even if it is legal to do so in the public domain.
I have over 2,500 photographs on flickr, most are candid street images. If you go to flickr and wish to buy any images there, tell me and I will transfer that image to FAA so that you can see how it looks in a mat and frame and then buy it from FAA.
All my images are intended to sell as 'art' and are not to be used for commercial ads in any fashion by any one or organization.
